KAVAKA

The name of the official journal of MSI is KAVAKA which represents the Sanskrit word for fungus. The publication is included in the abstracting and indexing coverage of the biosciences information service of biological abstracts and in current contents/agriculture, biology and environmental sciences.

INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
Two copies of the manuscript should be sent to the Editor along with one copy of the original illustration(s) and a second copy of the illustration(s) which should not exceed the size of the journal. This is required for the purpose of refereeing. Authors may consult a current issue to see the pattern followed by the Journal. The manuscript should be typed double-spaced with wide margins. Every paper must have an abstract giving a brief summary of the paper. References in the text should include name(s) of author(s) and year of publication in parenthesis. When there are more than two authors in a reference, all names should be mentioned in the first citation and subsequentially et al. may be used after the first author’s name.

When two or more publications by the same author (s) are cited in the same year, they may be designated by letters a,b,c,… in the references and the text as, for e.g. 1970a, 1970b. No matter should be underlined by the author except Latin binomials which should be underlined in pencil.

References at the end of the paper should be listed in alphabetical order. Each reference should contain the name(s) of author(s) followed by the initials, the year., the full title of the papers, the name of the journal (abbreviated according to the World List of Scientific Periodicals, 4th edition, 1963-65), volume and the first and mentioned the publishers name, place of publication, edition and full pagination. Where a book is edited by one or more authors, this may also be given. Tables be fitted within single columns. All illustrations (line drawings, graphs in Indian ink and photographs) will be numbered serially in Arabic numerals and refereed to as Figures in the text (e.g. Fig. 1, Fig. 22, etc). Line drawings should be prepared to stab ½ to 1/3 reduction and will be fitted within column or page width. Wherever possible, scales may be given in the drawings and photographs so that there would be no need to check magnifications. Photographs should be glossy prints and have high contrast. Photographs will be reproduced to column or page width. If they are put together, they should form a compact group to reduce cost of block making. All letterings should be done by using a stencil or by letterpress of the appropriate size for purpose of reduction and to ensure a uniform format.

Authors should also send Rs.200/- for each page of publication.
