MEMBERSHIP

General membership
Any person interested in the study of fungi can enroll himself/herself as a member. Privileges of individual membership include attending meetings of the Society, to appear on the program of such meetings, and to receive one subscription to each of the following: the official journal of the Society, the official newsletter of the Society, the membership directory, and other occasional publications. The annual membership fee presently is Rs.200/-. Interested persons can also become life members by paying Rs.2,000/-.

Sustaining Member
The sustaining member can be an individual or corporation recruited or recommended for sustaining membership by the Committee on Sustaining Membership. Sustaining membership must be approved by the Council. A sustaining member shall have the privileges of an individual member as well as those specified by the Committee on Sustaining Membership.

Honorary Member
The honorary member is one who is a distinguished scientist with a considerable experience and has contributed to the development of mycology and resides and works in a country other than India. There will be no more than 5 living honorary members at any time. One of the members of the Society may submit nominations, accompanied by a detailed documentation of the credentials of the nominee, to the Committee on Honorary Members. The Committee will review the nominations and report its recommendations to the Council. After evaluation of the Committee's recommendation, the Council will present nominees selected for election by the membership at the annual meeting of the Society. Honorary members shall have all of the privileges of an individual member but shall not pay any fee.

HONOURS/FELLOWS

Mycological Society of India has constituted two special lectures which are delivered during the annual meeting of the MSI. These are, ‘Shome Memorial Lecture" and "Agnihotrudu Endowment Lecture". These awards are given to eminent mycologists who have contributed immensely to the science of mycology. The Shome-Memorial lecture for the year 2006-2007 was delivered by Dr.S. Shishupal, Mangalore, India and the Agnihotrudu Endowment lecture was delivered by Dr.K.K. Janardhanan, Amla Cancer Research Centre, Thrissur. In addition, the MSI confers distinguished Fellowships to eminent members. Every year applications are received and through a review process the Fellows are elected.
